During the weekend of July 26th to July 28th, the Pickens Sheriff’s Office Explorers, Post 800 attended the annual Explorer Association State Conference. The event was held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia and explorers from all over the state attended.
Pickens Explorers trained with other Explorers in a variety of law enforcement training scenarios. The yearly conference also gives Explorers the opportunity to run for state positions in the Explorer Association. This year Pickens Sheriff Office Explorer Justin Morris was elected as the Regional Vice President.
The Explorer program is for youth ages 14 to 21 who have an interest in a future career in law enforcement. The Pickens Sheriff Office Explorers meet every Thursday from 5pm to 7pm.
