The Pickens County Board of Assessors met early this morning. Most business involved signing off on various assessor responsibilities such as dispositions and assessments. The board did briefly discuss where they are in the process of updating the technical services they use and the current status of the cell tower equipment appraisals.
The cellphone towers around the county serve as receptors for various equipment the carriers attach to it. Since the county lacks an expert in valuation of cell tower equipment, they have opted to seek companies to give proper valuation to the property. In yesterday’s meeting Chief Appraiser Roy Dobbs said two vendors seeking to provide the requested services have been identified. The next step is to seek the Board of Commissioners recommendations as to whether those applicants should make their presentations to the assessors or the commissioners.
