Local Company CIMS Celebrates 25 Years as a Custom Packaging and Material Handling Equipment Manufacturer and Film Vendor to Local Businesses.PRESS RELEASE: Dalton, Ga., April 9, 2014 – CIMS announces that 2014 marks its 25th year in operation. From the beginning, CIMS has been focused on serving customers and providing custom solutions to customer problems. The idea of saving companies money by developing automated systems that increase packaging and material handling efficiency has been central in driving CIMS’ success. In 1989, this idea fueled the passions of Alan Little and Mike Peeples, two Auburn University engineers, to combine their fascination with equipment and knack for innovative design to fulfill a need within the local carpet manufacturing market. Their goal was to provide the area’s carpet manufacturers with a better way to package and transport their products and to combine this with outstanding quality and customer service.

CIMS’ early emphasis was on supplying stretch film and stretch wrapping equipment to the carpet yarn industry. In 1992 the company moved to its current location in Dalton, Ga. As the company has grown, and as customer needs have changed, CIMS has expanded product lines and services to include laser guided vehicles, material handling equipment and a full range of stretch and shrink wrapping equipment. Likewise, CIMS’ customer base has expanded beyond the carpet industry to include distribution centers and various types of manufacturers.
