Local Company CIMS Celebrates 25 Years as a Custom Packaging and Material Handling Equipment Manufacturer and Film Vendor to Local Businesses.PRESS RELEASE: Dalton, Ga., April 9, 2014 – CIMS announces that 2014 marks its 25th year in operation. From the beginning, CIMS has been focused on serving customers and providing custom solutions to customer problems. CIMS is the only local company to supply film, design and manufacture equipment and provide 24 hour equipment service. Being a local company has allowed CIMS the opportunity to respond to customer needs quickly and to develop long lasting relationships with customers.
The idea of saving companies money by developing automated systems that increase packaging and material handling efficiency has been central in driving CIMS’ success. In 1989, this idea fueled the passions of Alan Little and Mike Peeples, two Auburn University engineers, to combine their fascination with equipment and knack for innovative design to fulfill a need within the local carpet manufacturing market. Their goal was to provide the area’s carpet manufacturers with a better way to package and transport their products and to combine this with outstanding quality and customer service.
CIMS’ early emphasis was on supplying stretch film and stretch wrapping equipment to the carpet yarn industry. In 1992 the company moved to its current location in Dalton, Ga. As the company has grown, and as customer needs have changed, CIMS has expanded product lines and services to include laser guided vehicles, material handling equipment and a full range of stretch and shrink wrapping equipment. Likewise, CIMS’ customer base has expanded beyond the carpet industry to include distribution centers and various types of manufacturers.
A comprehensive array of products, industry expertise and dedication has made CIMS one of the largest distributors of stretch and shrink films in the Southeastern United States. While the company’s products have expanded, the leadership and personnel have worked hard to remain true to their original mission statement and company objective, “To provide the highest quality products at competitive prices and to support them with the best service in the industry.”
CIMS produces its own line of stand-alone packaging and material handling solutions that include stretch wrappers, stretch banders, stretch tapers and laser guided vehicles. CIMS is an engineering company with small to large-scale system design solutions that involve software integration for fully automated material handling solutions. Typical systems include bar code scanners, label applicators, scales, elevators and sortation equipment. CIMS also provides a complete line of stretch wrap and shrink wrap for machine based operations as well as hand films. CIMS offers 24/7 service to their customers.
