PHS Wrestling Update

The Pickens Wrestling Team traveled to Sonoraville High SChool on November 22nd for the Sonoraville Classic. This tournament featured several high caliber teams, including defending 5-A state champ Pope High School, two Tennessee State Champions in Cleveland and the Baylor School, and Thompson of Alabama, which has numerous state titles. Despite all the stiff competition, the Dragons went in, wrestled hard, and came out in 7th place overall out of 13 teams. All the teams that finished in front of the Dragons had won state championships or had multiple wrestlers qualify and/or place at state last year.
Two Dragons took home medals as a result of their performances at the tournament.

Koby Milner took first place in the 106 pound bracket. Winning once via pin and twice via Technical Fall, a result that occurs when you are 15 points ahead of your opponent.

Elliott Gallagher had to wrestle in a round Robin bracket at 285 pounds. He pinned his first two opponents and forced his third out due to injury before being defeated in his final match. Elliott took second.

The Dragons will rest from competition during the Thanksgiving Holidays and will wrestle Creekview at Home on December 3rd. That night will also feature exhibitions of the Middle School and Youth Programs.
