Mrs. Estelle Childers: Obituary

Mrs. Estelle Childers, age 94, of the Jerusalem community passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at her home. She was born November 6, 1920 in Blue Ridge, Georgia to George and Ella Mae Collis. On October 31, 1936 she married Omada Childers. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include six daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Wigington of Jasper, Rachel and Mickey Howard of Jasper, Flondell and James Thompson of Jasper, Winnie and Robert Tanner of Ranger, JoAnn and Jerry Phillips of Calhoun, Patsy and Bill Webster of Jasper; four sons and daughters-in-law, Lenard and Gladys Childers of Jasper, Wayne and Nancy Childers of Jasper, Edward and Monika Childers of Calhoun, Tim and Kym Childers of Cumming; Erika Childers of Jasper; one brother, Lloyd Collis of Mayo, Florida; 36 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren; and special grand-daughter, Brianne Wright. Several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omada Childers; one daughter, Margie Weaver; one son, Leon Childers; parents, George and Ella Mae Collis; one grandson; two great grandsons; one sister; six brothers, and other loved ones.

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Reverend James Thompson, Reverend Robert Allen, and Reverend Nathan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday; 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday; and 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
