Generals Pull Away In the 4th To Defeat The Dragons

Last night, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Generals of Heritage inside the Dragons Den for a 6-AAAA contest. Pickens, looked to end their struggles and pick up a region win.

 

In the 1st, things started off well for the Generals as they marched out to a 10-0 early advantage. However, the Dragons fought their way back and outscored Heritage 13-4 the remainder of the frame to only trail 14-13 going to the 2nd. In the 2nd, both teams found success from inside the paint. The Generals outscored Pickens 15-10 in the quarter to take a 29-23 lead going into the break.

 

In the 3rd, the frame was again closely contested. Heritage outscored the Dragons 16-10, to take a lead of 45-33 going to the 4th. In the 4th, the offense for Pickens just couldn’t get a rhythm for a comeback attempt. The Generals outscored the Dragons 9-2 in the final frame to come away with a 54-35 win.

Avery Luke: 11 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, & 1 block

Joseph Gossett: 10 points, 3 assists, & 2 rebounds

Blake Gorth: 4 points, 4 rebounds, & 1 block

Keinyuan Hooks: 3 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, & 1 steal

Chase Simmons: 3 points, & 1 assist

Zach Goss: 2 points, 3 assists, & 2 rebounds

Hunter Hermann: 2 points, & 1 rebound

Jacob Brumby: 2 assists, & 4 rebounds

Seth Bishop: 1 rebound & 1 block

Hunter Jordan: 1 rebound & 1 block

 

The Dragons will continue region play on Friday as they make the long road trip up to take on the Ridgeland Panthers. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
