‘Nettes Comeback Falls Just Short Against Ridgeland

Last night, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team traveled to Rossville to take on the Lady Panthers of Ridgeland in a 6-AAAA region contest. Pickens, coming off of a tough mini stretch, looked to get back on track prior to a little break before heading to Fannin on the 28th to start a 3-day Holiday Tournament.

 

In the 1st, Ridgeland’s starting five got off to a strong start. The ‘Nettes 2nd unit got Pickens back into things towards the end of the frame as the Lady Panthers led it, 17-13. In the 2nd, both teams had success offensively. Ridgeland barely outscored the ‘Nettes 15-14, to take a 32-27 lead into the break.

 

In the 3rd, the offense kept pouring in for both squads. The Lady Panthers outscored the ‘Nettes 27-19 to extend their lead to 59-46, going to the 4th. In the 4th, Pickens twice cut the Lady Panthers lead down to three after a furious comeback. Ridgeland, however, was able to put the game away with free throws at the end to get the win, 77-68.

Taylor Wigington: 6 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, & 1 block

Allie Stephens: 4 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, & 2 steals

Mykenzie Weaver: 4 points, & 1 rebound

Ashley Nelson: 3 points, 2 assists, & 6 rebounds

Bailey Payne: 2 points, & 1 assist

Tessa Duncan: 2 steals

 

The ‘Nettes, will get a 12-day break before heading up to Blue Ridge to take part in the Mountaintop Holiday Classic. Pickens will be in the first game of the first day on December 28th, as they take on Fellowship Christian at 10 a.m. Yes, you read that right, 10 a.m.
