Russell Jones, has been located in North Carolina and was captured June 22, 2017 by U.S. Marshals.
On April 26, 2017 Pickens County Sheriff’s Office asked for public assistance in locating an absconded sex offender, Russell Jones. He supposedly moved into the Pickens area from West Virginia.
The address he provided to West Virginia was not valid and was originally sent to Gordon County. Gordon County proceeded to reach out to Pickens Sheriff’s Office to check if he had registered as a local sex offender.
Pickens Sheriff’s Office joined with the U.S. Marshal Service to attempt to locate Jones, who was convicted in West Virginia for the crime of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault with a juvenile.
The Pickens Sheriff’s Office was asked for a comment on the capture of Russell Jones, but no response has been received.
