Pickens County fire crews saved pet from house fire

PRESS RELEASE – Pickens Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire yesterday around 10:50 AM on Edgehill Place off of Bethany Road in Southwest Pickens County.

First arriving units reported nothing showing from outside.

Closer investigation found that smoke alarms were activated in the home and moderate smoke could be seen inside looking through the window.

Crews were directed to force entry into the residence to locate the fire.

Fire was immediately located on the stove top and extinguished.

Owner was not at home at time of alarm. The entry crew did locate the owner’s pet that appeared to be OK and removed it from the smoked filled home.

Fire damage was minimal with moderate smoke damage throughout residence.

No injuries to fire personnel. Units responding were Pickens Fire Engine 11, Med-11, Battalion-11, 1101, 1104, Bethany-Salem Engine-80, Tanker-81. Rehab-8 and Jasper FD Engine-3.
