Roper Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Ms. Myrtle Burton, age 91, of Jasper, Ga., who passed away May 2, 2011 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Ms. Burton taught school in the Pickens County School System for over 44 years.
She is survived by nieces and nephews: Woody Rackley, Virginia, Kenneth Burton, Jasper, Ga., Johnny Burton, Jasper, Ga., Ruth Merritt, Blairsville, Ga. and Jean Roland, Jasper, Ga.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Sims and Dr. Jimmy Lewis officiating. The interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body remains at Roper Funeral Home where the family will be receiving friends after 1 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday and Thursday until the funeral hour.
