Tragedy Claims Life at Georgia Marble

A tragic accident claimed a young man’s life at a Georgia Marble facility in Tate, GA. Late last night, January 12th, a 28 year old was involved in an accident that claimed his life. According to authorities Kevin Voyles was operating a saw that is used to cut marble into table top slabs. It is unclear as to what caused the accident but the victim was not sawing at the time. Somehow the slabs, estimated to weight 7000 lbs, fell onto Voyles. EMS administered care and transported to the hospital however Voyles did not survive.

The Georgia Marble Company, believed to be owned and operated by Polycor has not issued a statement at this time. Kevin Voyles was a resident of the Waleska, GA area and leaves behind a wife, children, and also had many family members in Pickens County. There was apparently no witnesses to the accident however an investigation into the incident may reveal additional information. FYN will update as soon as more is known.
