Toney elected to represent 9th District Republicans

News, Politics

Once again Pickens County has a State Committee member from the county. Larry Toney was elected to the State Committee at the 9th District Committee meeting in Demorest last week. Larry has represented the 9th District before so this is not his first “horse race”. The State Committee is the governing, policy-making leadership body for the Georgia Republican Party. It is comprised of the officers, including John Padgett, Chairman, Michael McNeely, 1st Vice Chair and Linda Herren, Committeewoman to the National GOP. The committee is all elected officials at the state and national levels, the 14 District Chairs and elected members like Larry representing one of the 14 Districts around the state. The 9th District has the largest membership at 15.

The Committee holds regular quarterly meetings at various locations around the state to develop strategies and plan for campaigns in upcoming elections.

He will be assigned to a standing committee dealing with state-wide issues in addition to participating in the quarterly sessions. Being on the Committee gives the people of Pickens County, as well as those of the 9th District, a voice in state affairs.
