Dairy Queen Restaurant a Total Loss Following Early Morning Fire
Featured Stories, News July 15, 2014 , by ContributorThe Dairy Queen restaurant in Jasper caught fire at approximately 6:15 this morning causing what Lieutenant Zeb McAllister of the Jasper Fire Department told FYN is most likely a “total loss.”Both county and city fire units (and corresponding volunteer units) responded to the blaze utilizing a tanker truck, six fire trucks, and an air unit.
McAllister said the fire was “hard to fight” because the structure had multiple roofs. This meant that, once the fire was perceived to be out, ‘new’ fires erupted between the roof areas requiring frequent movement of crews.
The matter has been referred to the State Fire Marshall’s office for investigation.
McAllister estimated that a representative would visit the structure next week in order to determine the cause of the fire.
