Updated: Timothy Eugene Smith Finally Captured in Cherokee County

FYN has learned from the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Smith, 39 years old of Waleska, was arrested this morning at a residence off Old Mill Road in Waleska. He had two warrants out of Cherokee County for Obstruction and Driving on a Suspended License. He had other outstanding warrants in other jurisdictions. While handcuffed and in custody on the way to the Cherokee Adult Detention Center, Smith kicked out the window of a patrol car, exited through the window and fled on foot. This occurred on Highway 5 near Bells Ferry Road in Canton. Smith returned to the patrol car and attempted to steal the vehicle but was re-captured. He is now in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center. He now faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Xanax, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Escape, Misdemeanor Obstruction and Interference with Government Property.
