Announcements, Community, Featured Stories

§ The mission of the American Legion is to provide support and assistance to Veterans and their families in need. This includes but not limited to financial and assistance in gaining employment. In fact we encourage people who know of those in need to notify us. We are committed to providing support to the community and to worthy charity programs. In the past 12 months we have raised over $$35,000 including $10,000 for the Jasper Police Officer to replace their obsolete Bullet Proof Vest with new ones. All money raised through our many projects go right back into the communities, including, CARES, Georgia Mountains Hospice, ,Marine Corps League for postage for mailing boxes to our deployed troops sent overseas, Marine TOYS FOR TOTS, Operation Comfort Warrior, Good Samaritan Health and Wellness. Just to name a few.

§ With all the projects we have ran we decided to boil it down to a few. It was decided that we would promote our first annual Bluegrass extravaganza: The American Legion Bluegrass Charity Festival is our first major event.

§ We have engaged 11 major Bluegrass bands from across the Southeast. Bluegrass fans will recognize most if not all covering the three day event.

§ Major General Terry Nesbit (retired) former Commander (TAG) is our Keynote Speaker on Friday during the opening ceremony and presentation of colors and National Anthem.

§ At 6PM the music begins and continues until midnight, Saturday music begins at 10AM and continues to Midnight. Sunday begins with a Sunday service with Abe Lincoln AKA Homer Sewell a nationally known speaker who looks like Abe’s twin, a inspirational and motivational speaker for all, telling some of Abe’s stories and his life all in the first person.

§ The event is located on the 21 acre spot of the Jeep fest on church street. Plenty of free parking on site with a dollar donation to the Explorer Scouts who will help with parking.

§ There will be food vendors (no duplication except two BBQ) along with lots of Arts & Crafts for shoppers.
