The Pickens High School Dragons Tennis team swept the visiting Fannin County Rebels, with the Lady Dragons scoring a scorching 5-0 shut out, and the male counterpart Dragons winning 3-2.Senior Taylor Jordan, who has been playing since the 6th grade said that her goal for the year was,

“State Always.”

Jordan describes her reasons for beginning a tennis career as,

“Something I could do with my parents.”

Teammates Hannah Keater, a junior who has been involved in the sport for nine years, and Whitney Clark, a tennis player for four years, have reasons rooting in basketball. Keater decided to pursue tennis after lacking the height required for basketball.

“I was short and could play,” Keater said.

Clark said she picked up her racket because,

“Basketball ended and I had nothing to do.”

The three girls led their team to victory with the results being:

Hannah Keeter won against A. Minter 6-0, 6-1
Taylor Jordan won against J Richert 6-4, 6-1
Whitney Clard won against C. Bryant 6-2, 6-1

Doubles team Brooke Smith and Kristen Garner won against N. Curry and H.
Davenport 6-0, 6-0
Doubles team Zoe Wegenstein and Bryce Odom won against L. Travis and T.
Kirkpatrick 6-1, 6-3

Mitchell Ball won against C. Owen 6-0, 6-0
Sam Dotson won against D. Easter 6-3, 6-2
Dillon Smith won agains S. Smith 6-2, 6-4
