Mrs. Dee Dodson Greenwell, age 63, of Jasper, Ga., died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at her residence, following a period of declining health.

Born January 16, 1948 in Cherryvale, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late William Alva Dodson and Wilma Irene Friley Dodson. Mrs. Greenwell attended and graduated Cherryvale High School also Weaver Airline School, where upon graduation was hired by National Airlines. She finished a 22 year airlines career with Pan American World Airway. Subsequent to her tenure with the airlines, she spent the next 15 years in the home health field, serving as both local and regional administrator. Upon retiring in 2005 and moving to Jasper with her husband Stephen, she became involved with Habitat for Humanity as a member and chairman of the construction committee. Dee served as a volunteer for both Georgia Mountain Hospice and the Auxiliary at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. Dee was a member of Teamsters Local Union #769 in Miami, Florida and a member of Tate United Methodist Church in Tate, Georgia.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Stephen Greenwell of Jasper, Ga.; daughters, Lynn Maddaloni of Sebastian, Fla., and Patricia Shaffer of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; son, Christopher Greenwell of Chester, Va.; grandchildren, C.J. Greenwell, Carter Greenwell, Trace Shaffer, Reece Shaffer and Cole Greenwell; sister, Anne Gowans of Fulton, Missouri; brother, James Dodson of Independence, Kansas; nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

At her request, Mrs. Greenwell was cremated and a Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Tate United Methodist Church, the Rev. Rob Bruce will officiate with a reception to follow after the Memorial Service.
