Mr. Melvin Gilbert Greene, age 62, of Jasper, Georgia died April 4th, 2011 at his residence following a period of declining health.Born on June 25, 1948 in Cherokee County, Georgia to the late M.W. and Ardelphia Greene, Mr. Greene worked in the construction industry for Haygood Contracting.

Survivors include, his daughters and son-in-law; Amy Parks of Canton, Ga., Melinda and Justin Thomas of Jasper, Ga. and Dovie Sue Greene of Jasper, Ga.; son, Mitchell H. Greene of Canton, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Winford Lewis of Canton, Ga., Faye and Robert Cox of Canton, Ga., Diane and Tommy King of Waleska, Ga. and Laverne Roper of Ball Ground, Ga.; grandchildren, Allyson Parks of Canton, Ga.; Brittany Parks of Canton, Ga., Johnathon Parks of Canton, Ga. and Jonah Thomas of Jasper, Ga.. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 P.M., Thursday, April 7th, 2011 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Segers and Rev. Moss Fountain officiating with the interment to follow at the Greene Family Cemetery in Canton, Ga.

The family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home in Jasper, Ga. on Wednesday, April 6th, 2011 from 12 to 10 P.M.
