The Pickens High School Dragons’ baseball team went on the road to take on the Cedartown Bulldogs and fell 7-6, when the Bulldogs came from behind in the bottom of the seventh inning. Starting pitcher, Jesse Decker, pitched six and a third innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) and recording the loss.Neither team was able to score in the first inning. The Dragons were held scoreless in the top of the second as well. The Bulldogs took the first lead of the game, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second.

The Dragons tied the game in the top of the third, shutting out Cedartown in the bottom of the inning. Pickens picked up the pace in the fourth by scoring three more runs to increase the lead to 5-2. Cedartown decreased the lead with a run scored in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-3.

Pickens was unable to score in the top of the fifth and sixth innings, while Cedartown was able to trim the lead to one in the bottom of the fifth and tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth.

The last inning was the most drama filled as the Dragons broke the tie in the top of the seventh but were done in by the Bulldogs taking advantage of last ups and winning the game in the bottom of the seventh with the two aforementioned runs.

Pickens runs were scored by: Connor North, who scored one run and led the team with three hits; Brian Morris, who had the Dragons sole home run; Tanner Brumby; Dylan Childers; and Aaron Eubanks.
