Pickens Picks Up Win on Senior Night

The Pickens High School Dragons’ baseball team defeated the S.E. Whitfield Raiders 7-4 in the last game of the Dragons’ season. The game was held at Dragon Field, and doubled as Senior night for the graduating baseball players.The Dragons scored first with run in the first inning; however, Pickens was soon down 3-1 as the Raiders scored three runs in the second.

S.E. Whitfield scored the Raiders’ last run of the game in the top of the third. The bottom of third saw the home team Dragons tie the game, with three runs scored.

The Dragons secured the lead with two runs scored in the bottom of the fifth. One more run scored in the bottom of the sixth combined with a four scoreless innings from the Raiders allowed the Dragons to end the season with a win and send the seniors off victorious.

Pitcher Colton Prather started the game and lasted three innings, giving up all four of the Raiders runs. Jesse Drecker was brought in for relief, pitching four scoreless innings and registering the win.

Both Brian Morris and Aaron Lohman scored two runs on three hits for the Dragons. Connor North, Dillon Trego, and Drecker all scored one run for the home team.

The seniors are: Dillon Trego; Mattew Cook; Lohman; Aaron Eubanks; and North.
