Relay For Life event sponsored by Piedmont Outpatient Center

On Saturday, April 30th, 110 registered runners came out to participate in the Relay For Life event sponsored by Piedmont Outpatient Center.Run for Relay 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk began at 8am on a beautiful Saturday morning.

If you watch the video closely you will catch a glimpse of Diesel, a 17 month old German Shepherd, that also joined in the run with his owner.

Gilmer High School Cross Country Coach Jones crossed the finish line first with a time of 17:19.

Bill Moore of Resaca crossed the line with a time of 19:17 for second place. Bill holds the state record for the age bracket of 60+ with a time of 18:15 when he ran the Roman Rumble in September of 2010.

Rebecca Rush of Blue Ridge was the first woman to finish the race in 22 minutes and 35 seconds.

Piedmont Outpatient Services Team Captain Kayla Easley was the second woman to complete the 5k with a time of 23:44.

Thirteen year old Eric Mayfield of Ellijay was the first teen to make the finish line with a time of 23:15.

After the run awards were presented to the runners as follows: 5K-Top male and female overall; Top male and female masters; Top 3 males and females in 14 age groups-10 and under through 70 and older in 5 year increments.
