Born in Oak Harbor, OH in the year 1929 Philip Clark Rymers, the Son of Clifford and Nellie Rymers, made his place in this world.

The younger of two sons, brother Thomas Rymers of Osceola, IN, Phil attended Oak Harbor High School and was a part of the graduating class of 1947. While in High School Phil played trombone in the school band, as well as, an active member of a small dance band and sports activist.

Phil attended college at the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI and received his Bachelors of Industrial Engineering while Co-oping with the General Motors Buick plant.

During this time Phil married his high school sweetheart, Audrey, and had two sons David and John.
After graduating College Phil served two years in the Army. The Department of Defense placed Phil in the Auto Mechanics division where he became an instructor. This career move led him down a path he learned to love, teaching.

Phil returned to school at the University of Toledo where he received his Masters. Upon completion of his degree he moved the family to AZ where he taught at Arizona State University. After much thought and discussion with his father in law, Phil decided to complete his education. He moved his family to Flint, MI where he obtained his Ph.D. from Michigan State, in Applied Mechanics.

Due to his love of the desert Phil took his family back to NV and taught at the University of Nevada at Reno where he retired after 18 years.

After his retirement, Phil and Audrey decided to explore the country and took a position in Marietta, GA as a Professor with the Mechanical Engineering Dept at Southern Poly Technical Institute. Soon after Phil and Audrey moved to GA he lost his high school sweetheart to cancer.

Phil met his next love, Dell, in the fall of 1988. They married in June of 1993 and he inherited three daughters, Kim, LaNisa and Terri, another son, John, and five grandchildren, Dustin, Zach, Travis, Abigail and Analin. Phil had already been blessed with a granddaughter, Melissa, and grandson, William by his oldest son, David and his wife Irma.

Phil had a great love of woodworking and flying. He had a wonderful ability to make incredible wood pieces. He started this love with children’s toys, moving on to furniture and graduating with beautiful workmanship when he built his home. Phil’s flying was fed when he became an instructor of aviation for single engine planes.

Phil was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
