Exclusive ETC TV3 Highlight Footage Pickens Picked Apart by Cedartown: Bulldogs Douse Dragons Fire 48-27

The Pickens High School Dragons hosted the Bulldogs of Cedartown, and despite scoring the game’s first touchdown following a fumble recovered by John Massey, the Dragons were drug by the Bulldogs in a 48-27 thorough thrashing.The Dragons drew first blood, when Eric Justice, caught a tipped pass in the end zone following the aforementioned fumble recovery by Massey. The Dragons’ revelry was short lived, as the Bulldogs bit back, with an 88 yard kick off return for a touchdown. The Bulldogs successful tried a two point conversion to make the score 8-7 in Cedartown’s favor with 10:58 left to play in the first quarter.
On the next Pickens possession, the Dragons moved the ball to the Bulldogs’ 45, even converting on a third and 14 with a nifty scramble from quarterback Tanner Brumby; however, the drive stalled when the Dragons failed to convert a fourth and one.

On the ensuing possession, running back Nick Chubb was rocking as he rushed the entire 55 yards, on six carries, scoring with 6:07 left in the first quarter. Pickens’ Thomas Howard picked up a Pickens sack on the two point conversion attempt and the Dragons remained down 14-7.
Pickens was unable to pick up a first down and punted back to the Bulldogs. Cedartown drove 80 yards with the drive ending in a Marquis Thomas 30 yard touchdown catch. Another failed two point conversion, saw the Dragons down 20-7 with 1:40 left in the first quarter.
The Dragons drove the ball to the Bulldogs’ 20 yard line; however, another failed fourth down conversion gave Cedartown the ball back. After a holding penalty moved the ball back to the Bulldogs’ eight yard line, Nick Chubb’s 92 yard touchdown run made the score 26-7. Pickens stopped the two point conversion again.
Dragon disaster struck, on the first play of the next possession, as a Pickens fumble was recovered by the Bulldogs on the Pickens 36 yard line. After back to back penalties, Cedartown’s Zach Chubb scored a rushing touchdown, making the score 32-7 with 6:04 left in the first half. Nick Chubb would score one more touchdown before the half, a 68 yard scamper that gave the Bulldogs a 40-7 halftime lead.

The second half featured the Cedartown calling off the dogs, as the Bulldogs’ backups and young pups played most of the second half. Only one Bulldog touchdown was scored in the second half, Charles Prior scored on a rushing touchdown.
The Dragons scored two touchdowns in the second half, both on running plays, one from Kalyn Brooks, the other from Eric Collins.
