While the PCMS Dragons traveled to Ellijay to take on the Clear Creek Bobcats, the Dragonettes stayed in Jasper to defend its home court against the Lady Cats. The first game of the afternoon featured the 7th grade teams, both sitting at 5-0 on the season, in a meeting that quickly proved to be a one-sided affair. The Dragonettes, led by strong efforts by Autumn Young and Taylor Wiggington, played near-perfect in the first quarter, starting the game with a commanding 12-0 run.

PCMS led the game 24-9 at halftime, and although the Lady Cats were able to play tighter defense in the second half of play, the Dragonettes did just enough to come out with a 34-25 victory.

The 8th grade matchup proved to be a role reversal for the two schools, as the Lady Cats started the game on a 14-2 run. Inconsistency on offense for PCMS and pinpoint accuracy by Clear Creek created a perfect storm for the Lady Cats and allowed the visiting team to possess a 22-7 lead at halftime.

The Dragonettes never stopped fighting in this one, but Clear Creek’s strong first half allowed them to coast in the second half en route to a 40-20 victory.

The PCMS Dragons and Dragonettes get a nice break over the holidays before their next set of games roll around, which will be against their crosstown rival JMS on January 6th at the PCMS gym. The games are scheduled to tip off at 4:15.
