Tennis Update: Pickens Challenges Cedartown and Cartersville

Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports

The Pickens tennis team moved a step closer to the end of the regular season this week, as the team went up against Cedartown on Monday and against Cartersville on the following day.
The Dragons and Dragonettes had a considerable amount of success against Cedartown, as the boy’s combined for a team record of 2-3 on the afternoon—the wins coming from singles players Josh Golden and Sam Heath—and the girl’s ended the day with a 3-2 mark as singles players Hannah Keeter, Whitney Clark as well as doubles players Brooke Smith and Kristen Garner came out victorious.

While the opening match of the week presented Pickens with promising results, the team’s matchup with Cartersville was more of a struggle. Facing one of the best teams in the region with some of the top players in the entire Southern region, the Dragons and Dragonettes fought valiantly but ended the day without a victory.

Pickens has just one home match left on its schedule for the year, as they take on Fannin on April 3rd. Following this match, the team has just one other match left, as they travel to Murray on April 5th. The regional tournament is set to take place over the school’s spring break in the third week of April.
