Weaver Calls Out Jones at Commissioners’ Debate

During a debate last week hosted by the Pickens County Tea Party, candidate for Commission Chair Wesley Weaver had harsh criticism for incumbent Commission Chairman Robert JonesOpposing Jones for Commission Chairman, Weaver criticized Jones for his spending record, challenging his Republican and conservative principles.

The debate also offered an opportunity for candidates running for the two new commissioner post positions to introduce themselves and try to win the support of voters for the upcoming July 31st election.

Last year, residents in Pickens County voted to adopt a new governmental structure. The new structure will consist of a three-person board of commissioners. As such, the new board will consist of two post positions, representing the east and west sides of the county, and a chairman. The two posts will function as policy makers, while the chairman will maintain the day-to-day operations in addition to making a budget.

Post One Commissioner will represent the west side of the county and Post Two the east side.
