Mr. Charles Watson “Boonie” Darnell, age 81, of Jasper, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Georgia, following a period of declining health.

The body remains at Roper Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and until the funeral hour on Monday.

Born July 24, 1931 in Pickens County, Georgia, he was the son of the late John Cyrus Darnell and Nacie Alliefair Simmons Darnell. Mr. Darnell had worked as a mail carrier in Atlanta, Jasper and Ball Ground. He was a member of the Pickens Star Masonic Lodge # 220 and was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Survivors include, SONS, Robin Watson Darnell and his wife, Cheryl of Powder Springs, Ga.; Peter Grier Darnell and his fiance’, Michelle Holmes, of Talking Rock, Ga.; GRANDCHILDREN, Thomas Hamilton Lee Darnell, III, of Jasper, Ga.; Cody Harkins, of Talking Rock, Ga.; SISTERS & BROTHERS-IN-LAW, Berdie Darnell Millsap and spouse, L.J., of Jasper, Ga.; June O’Shields, of Jasper, Ga.; Jane and Douglas Keel, of The Villages, Fla.; Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Gene Childers will officiate with the interment to follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic
