Murder Suspect Makes First Court Appearance

The 16-year-old male murder suspect charged with stabbing his step-father Friday night made his first appearance in court at 9:30 this morning, at the West Annex Courtroom on 35 West Church Street in Jasper.Chief Superior Court Judge Brenda Weaver stated that no media is permitted in court at this time nor will any audio be released, according to an email from Lt. Kris Stancil at the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office this morning. In the email, Stancil also stated that the suspect is still being treated as a juvenile, until the case is forwarded to Superior Court.

In a conversation with the FYN this morning, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Department said it will issue another press release later today.
