In its first meeting of the year on January 7th, The Nelson City Council nominated Council Member Jonathan Bishop as the new Mayor Pro Tem. Council Member Duane Cronic was also nominated. However, Council Member Jackie Jarrett, who nominated Cronic, later changed his vote to Bishop. Mr. Cronin also voted for Bishop. Previously, Council Member Martha Tipton was Mayor Pro Tem. Bishop was elected in November of 2011 and took office in January 2012.
