Pickens County Fire Rescue recently hosted a technical rescue course.

The 40 hour training course introduced students to certain performance requirements necessary to perform technical rescue operations. This training provides a foundation to prepare students for a wide variety of possible rescue operations such as rope rescue, wilderness search and rescue, establishment of landing zones for helicopter operations, victim management, assisting at building collapse or confined space incidents.

Departments participating in the training were Pickens County Fire Rescue, City of Jasper Fire Dept., Big Canoe Fire Dept., Cherokee County Fire Dept., Smyrna Fire Dept. and Atlanta Fire Dept. Instructors were Josh Young, Chris Moss, Will Mathews, Ricky Jordan, Miles Childers, Keith Bishop and Jody Collis. Special thanks to the Gilmer County Fire Dept. for allowing us to use their training facility.
