Lt. Col. Lawrence J. Ellgass, Sr., USAF (Retired) passed away Friday, September 20, 2013. Born on July 18, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Matthew M. and Julia R. Ellgass. Mr. Ellgass was a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago with a B.S., and the University of Chicago with a MBA. He was dedicated to the Catholic Church, Freedom, USA, and the USAF. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper.

Survivors include, HIS WIFE OF 59 YEARS, Juanita H. Ellgass of Jasper, Ga.; CHILDREN, Lawrence J. Ellgass, Jr. (Wife – Debra) of Statesboro, Ga.; Barbara Dailey (Husband – John) of Roswell, Ga.; Robert Ellgass of Marietta, Ga.; David Ellgass (Wife – Sherri) of Warner Robbins, Ga.; Jeanne Fernandez ( Husband – Jim ) of Marietta, Ga.; SISTER, Margaret Mary Slattery of Waupaca, WI; 11 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Nephews and 1 Niece.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2013 at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. The interment will be a 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia with full military honors by the United States Air Force.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013.
