Mrs. Tamara Nell Hunter, age 78 of Jasper passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 at her residence. Born February 19, 1935 in Denton, Texas, she was an only but happy child of the late Sterling R. Tadlock and Nell Loraine Reddell Tadlock. Tamara earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas at Denton, Texas. She also attended Grand Prairie Texas High School and the University of Baylor at Waco, Texas. Tamara was a teacher, homemaker and real estate broker before retiring to Bent Tree.

Known also for her many other talents – among them architect, tennis champ, tourist and professional band-aid applier for her slightly accident prone children and husband. She was also a voracious reader and amateur mystery sleuth and could operate her Macintosh, iPad and Kindle at a level that would shame the Geniuses at an Apple store. Tamara enjoyed planting and gardening and was a firm believer in the Calvin and Hobbes philosophy that if your knees weren’t green by the end of the day, you needed to seriously re-examine your life. She was also fond of wearing shamrocks on St. Patrick Day since she always felt that real rocks were just too heavy.

Despite eyewitnesses, in her later years, she consistently refused to admit that she was once seen doing wheelies over speed bumps on her walker. She was very happy living in the beautiful Bent Tree Community and enjoying the company of the friendly people of the First Mountain City. Tamara was of the Baptist faith

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Gene Hunter of Jasper, Ga.; her sons, Daran Hunter of Jasper, Ga.; and Kevin Hunter of Norcross, Ga.; Also her favorite cousin, Dan Wilkinson of Dallas, Texas.

Tamara chose being cremated and a Memorial Service will be scheduled for a later date.
