Pickens Dragons running back Shannon Brooks was rewarded for his great efforts in the 2013 season on December 27th, when he was named as an honorable mention on the Class AAAA All-State team.Brooks had a fantastic junior season for the Dragons, breaking a school record for rushing yards with 1,696 yards on the ground (11th most in the state of Georgia) with 16 touchdowns in ten games. Brooks was also a dynamic receiver out of the backfield for PHS, recording 20 receptions for 308 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Pickens Dragons head coach Chris Parker was understandably happy for Brooks, saying

“He was a great young man to work with. He worked hard in practice and games and was able to carry our team at times. I am really proud of this accomplishment; it is well deserved.”

Dragons’ fans are excited to see Brooks and the rest of the team back in action on the football field come August 29, 2014 when PHS travels to Cleveland to face the White County Warriors, but Shannon has other athletic challenges to conquer in the meantime; namely, playing a pivotal role on the Pickens basketball team.
