At 3 p.m. FYN was notified the warming center has been shut down. But Jackson reports auxiliary members are on stand-by should Sheriff Donnie Craig see the need arise for the emergency shelter to be opened.
In the case that occurs, FYN will be notified and information will be posted here.Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary members are ready for the impending weather, come what may. FYN stopped by the “warming center” they have set up at the Pickens County Community Center for those who may not have adequate heat.

Auxiliary President Ray Jackson reported that at this time the warming center has coffee available and a warm room in which people who may lose power or may not have an adequate heat sources may stop by to get themselves warmed up. At this point they don’t anticipate long-term power outages but are prepared to take steps necessary should conditions worsen.

The county shelter van is on-site and filled with supplies. If necessary they are prepared to open a fully operational shelter with bedding for fifty and showers at the facility.

Numerous road crews are out throughout the county staying atop rapidly changing weather events.
