Mr. James Arthur Decker, age 74 of Tate, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his residence.
Born March 23, 1939 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Ervin Frank Decker and Mary Genevieve Peot Decker. He received a Bachelor of Science, University of Wisconsin in 1963. Mr. Decker had been employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Centrex Corporation, J.M. Huber Company and Chevron Chemical Company.
Being from Green Bay, he was a lifelong “Packer Backer”, enjoyed woodworking and creating stained glass piece for family and friends. Mr. Decker enjoyed golfing at the Bent Tree Golf Club and participated in the Lake and Wildlife Committee and Woodworkers’ in Bent Tree. He served as Treasurer of C.A.R.E.S. Mr. Decker was active in Men’s Breakfast Group and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family in Jasper.
Survivors include, HIS WIFE OF 38 YEARS, Lydia Decker of Tate, Ga.; SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Todd and Leslie Decker of Sugar Hill, Ga.; DAUGHTERS & SONS-IN-LAW, Lisa Ann and David Lowe of Lucas, TX; Lisa and Jimmy Roberts of Senoia, Ga.; Melanie and David Chewning of Atlanta, Ga.; NINE GRANDCHILDREN, Breanne and Michael Decker, Mary Frances and Ian Roberts, Nicholas and Katie Lowe, Olivia, Zoe and Zachary Chewning; BROTHERS & SISTERS-IN-LAW, Dave and Sally Decker of Durham, N.C.; Richard and Connie Decker of Schererville, Ind.; Bob and Kathy Decker of De Pere, WI; SISTER, Mary Zimmer of Green Bay, WI; Nine Nieces and Nephews also survive.
At his request, Mr. Decker was cremated and a Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Episcopal Church Of The Holy Family, Rev. George Yandell will officiate with a reception to follow in the church Parish Hall coordinated by the Daughters of the King.
