Graduation Frequently Asked Questions answered below:When is Graduation?

Graduation will begin promptly at 9AM on Saturday morning May 31st.

When is Graduation Practice?

Graduation practice is on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30 at the High School. Students should park in the FRONT of the school when coming in for practice and report to the OLD Auditorium. Breakfast will be provided on Thurday at 8:30AM. Students who do not want to come to breakfast will need to arrive by 9:00AM on both Thursday and Friday. Practice is scheduled to end by 11:30AM on both days but may run late or end early as needed.

Is Graduation Practice mandatory?

YES

When should Graduating Seniors Arrive for Graduation Day?

Graduating Seniors will need to arrive at the High School – dressed and ready to go – by 7:30AM Saturday morning. Bring your cap and gown and be ready to put them on by the time you line up to go to the field. DO NOT FORGET YOUR HONORS MEDALS OR CORDS!

Where can visitors park?

Parking at the High School is on a first come – first served basis. Once the High School parking lot is full, visitors will be directed to one of two overflow lots. Guests are highly encouraged both to take advantage of these lots and to carpool. The first overflow location is at Pickens County Middle School and the second at Chattahoochee Tech. Shuttle busses will be provided at the overflow lots for FREE and will run roughly every ten minutes from both locations from 7:45AM until 8:45AM. Busses will also be available after the ceremony to return Graduation guests to their vehicles. To avoid having to be redirected from the High School which fills up very early, it is, again, highly encouraged that guests make use of the overflow lots and the shuttle busses.

What about Handicapped Parking?

A limited number of handicapped spaces will be available at the High School in front of the field house by the stadium on a first come – first served basis. There is also one shuttle bus which will be running from the overflow locations which is designated as a handicapped bus to accomodate those who do not make it into one of these spots. Golf carts will be running from the High School parking lot to the field to aid any who need additional assistance getting to the field. In addition to this: guests are welcome to drop off anyone who may need assistance by the handicapped parking before moving on to the overflow lots and staff will be on hand to provide help as needed.

What happens if it rains?

In the case of inclement weather the Graduation Ceremony will be moved inside to the New Gym. Due to limited space, Graduating Seniors will be issued SIX tickets to give out to guests who wish to attend the ceremony in case of rain. These tickets will be issued on Friday at Graduation Practice. Every guest who will need a seat in the Gym will need a ticket (this does not include very young children in laps). Tickets will be taken at the door of the Gym and any person who does not have a ticket will not be allowed inside. We apologize for this inconvenience but the space is very limited. Students who do not need all six of their tickets have the option to give them away to another student if they wish. These tickets will not be needed if the weather does not demand moving inside.
Can I get more Graduation Tickets?

No. Six is the alotted amount for each Graduating Senior for guests. In addition, if the tickets are lost they can NOT be replaced. Please, do not lose them! Students are more than welcome to give away any tickets which they will not need for their own guests.

What should Graduating Seniors wear to Graduation?
This will be discussed during Graduation Practice.

Can I hang a sign or banner on Dragon Drive for a Graduating Senior?

No. Any banners put up or left overnight on Friday will be taken down by Saturday Morning. Please, do not leave any banners or signs on Dragon Drive for Graduation.
