Pickens County School System enrollment has increased by 117 students but, despite a decrease of revenue (as reflected in the new tax digest ) the school board refrained from raising the millage rate.
The system has added a Pre-K program with 63 students but was able to secure state grants in order to cover program costs.
The enrollment numbers are as follows:
Tate Elementary 318
Jasper Elementary 484
Hill City Elementary 615
Harmony Elementary 522
Jasper Middle 585
Pickens Middle 537
Pickens High 1302
The total number of students in the system is 4,363 for the 2014/2015 school year.
