Article submitted by By Darla Huffman: Non-GMO Eggs at the Jasper Farmers Market: If you are interested in reducing the amount of GMO products in your family’s diet, you might like to try Elaine Carey Goble’s eggs. Her chickens now eat feed that does not contain corn or soy, the 2 biggest contributors to the GMO problem. It is an experiment because this new chicken feed is more expensive so she will have to charge more for the eggs, but several shoppers at the market this week thought it was worth it. If you want to support her efforts, stop by the market on Saturday morning. You may know Elaine as the vendor who makes her own brand of skincare (Nature’s Essence Skincare) and will sell chickens as well as just the egg.

The vegetables are still plentiful; lots of beautiful okra and tomatoes this week and still beans enough to can.

There is a lot to look at when you visit Gail Boyd’s copious crafts display.

Every kind of needlework, crochet, embroidery, sewing and custom monogramming. You can get a monogrammed barbeque apron for your favorite grill master and another one for you along with a lot of household items; tea towels, decorative pillows, etc. Look for Gail Force Crafts next time you are at the market.

If you remember those beautiful big pots of chrysanthemums that were for sale at the market last year you might be glad to hear they are back. Brenda Miller had some of the first to bloom that will last the longest once you get them home. The colors she had Saturday were bright yellow, white and red.

The Jasper Farmers Market is held on Saturday morning (April through October) and Wednesday morning (June 18 through August) from 7:30 am to 12 noon in the Park n Ride lot at Lee Newton Park on Hwy 53 in Jasper; except for Marble Festival activities.
