Margarete Maria Dix, age 87, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, GA.Mrs. Dix was an orphan and war refugee from Germany in World War II who immigrated to the United States to enjoy the freedom and prosperity of our country. Mrs. Dix graduated in 1973 from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and later earned a Master’s Degree in teaching. She taught for many years in Wisconsin as well as in Forsyth County, Georgia at Midway Elementary School, retiring in 1991.

She was married for 66 years to Karl Alfons Dix who survives her as well as four children, Teresa Maria Jersild (married to Chris Jersild) of Snellville, GA, Marguerite Katherine Johannes of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Karl Frederick Dix (married to Barbara Dix) of Atlanta, GA and Anthony Thomas Dix (married to Carrie Dix) of Roswell, GA. Mrs. Dix is also survived by nine grandchildren: Stephen Baisch, Kelley Jersild, Julie Johannes, Nick Johannes, Karl Albert Dix, Kenny Dix, Katie Dix, David Dix and Brian Dix.

The family will celebrate a funeral mass for her at 11:00 a.m. on November 29, 2014 at Our Lady of the Mountains; 1908 Waleska Highway 108; Jasper, GA with Father Charles Byrd presiding. Immediately after the mass, the family will be receiving friends at a reception in the church hall.
