Article submitted by Darla Huffman: It was good to see Craig Pence at the market again. You may remember him from last year, the “puzzle man” with those clever wooden animal or name puzzles. And he brought us some customers when people who had ordered custom made puzzles came to pick them up. They are a great gift for almost anyone and he has some new things like a tractor, fire truck and VW bug and his ever popular almost any breed of dog. Gail Boyd had some strikingly beautiful triangle shaped shawls that are so handy, versatile and popular this year. This would be something most women you be delighted to receive. I wouldn’t worry too much about the possibility that giving a hand made, one of a kind gift that it cannot be returned. Check with the individual vendor, but I think that most would be willing to work with you on an exchange if it wasn’t quite the right thing.

The unusually cold weather has wiped out some of the fall vegetables, but the Pools had spinach and collard greens that were gone early. Eggs, honey and bread were some of the other fresh local foods available.

The Jasper Farmers Market Fall Season is held on Saturday morning from November 8 through December 20 on alternating Saturday mornings from 8:00am to 12 noon in the Park n Ride lot at Lee Newton Park on Hwy 53 in Jasper and is a project of the Pickens County Master Gardeners.
