Featured Stories, News January 30, 2015 , by Staff WriterOn January 29th, Sergeant Heath Watson and Deputy Travis Gibson with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office encountered something you don’t see everyday. Blocking traffic in the middle of a busy highway was a Blue Heron.
Deputy Gibson, then loaded the bird up in the rear of his patrol car and transported him to jail. Fortunately the bird was not booked in as a criminal (jail bird) but was released to the Ellijay Georgia Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary.
