Mrs. Patricia Michaels Girdler, age 76, of Big Canoe passed away at 3:22 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. Mrs. Girdler died from heart failure.Mrs. Girdler was born on February 20, 1938 in Short Hills, New Jersey to Edwin Raymond Michaels and Elizabeth Catalane Michaels. She attended the University of Georgia for two years and Georgia State University for one year. On September 5, 1959, Patricia married Richard Rheutan Girdler and together they had two great children.

She is survived by husband, Richard Girdler of Big Canoe; son and daughter-in-law, Richard R. Girdler, Jr. and Patty Pullen Girdler of Franklin, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn Girdler Reardon and Tim Reardon of South Canton; brother Edwin Raymond Michaels, Jr.; sister, Susan Michaels; grandchildren, Richard R. Girdler, III, John Girdler, Christopher Reardon, Austin Reardon, Bradley Reardon; and one great-grandchild, Nevada Taff. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by parents, Edwin Raymond and Elizabeth Catalane Michaels and in-laws, Joseph H. and Mary Ellen Rheutan Girdler.

Patricia was very active at Big Canoe Chapel in numerous ministries. She loved Big Canoe where she and her husband have lived the past ten years. Prior to moving to Big Canoe, they lived at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where they had many wonderful friends.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

A memorial service for Patricia will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Big Canoe Chapel.
