The oldest continuous farmers market (as well as the friendliest) in the county will open for its 16th season this Saturday, March 28, 2015. The hours are from 7:30 to 12 noon and the location is in the Park and Ride lot next to Lee Newton Park on Church Street in Jasper. If you have never been before you should come by and see what is going on at the Jasper Farmers Market. Although we never know for sure who will be there and what will be for sale it definitely will be handmade or homegrown by one of our adept vendors.

Some of our vendors have responded to a Facebook request for information and here is a list of who and what will be there so far: Cole Johnson, small onions and greens; Roxanne Janes, bread and eggs; Kimberly Bell, jewelry; Cecelia Ison; rugs and wood items; Roberta Lee, miscellaneous arts and crafts; Crystal Merrell, herbal concoctions, salves, teas, and more. Check Facebook this week as more vendors respond.

Remember the musicians who played for us at the market last season? Andy Edmonstone (banjo) and Merritt Smith (fiddle) have been roasting coffee this winter and will be selling it at the market this Saturday. And they will play when they can! What fun. Welcome Camo Coffee!

Retuning vendors, Mary Jane Seimas and Gina Handley sold pottery and repurposed clothing among other things a few years ago, now this talented duo will be back this year with more of the same plus a variety of other original imaginative creations. Good browsing.

New vendors are always welcome, so if you would like to put your talents to work come and sell what you make or grow. The rule is that it must be homemade or home grown. Just show up at the market before 7:30. Bring whatever you need to display your product. The fee is $3 a day.

The Jasper Farmers Market Spring and Summer Season takes place every Saturday morning (April through October) and Wednesday morning (June through August) from 7:30 am to 12 noon in the Park n Ride lot at Lee Newton Park on Hwy 53 in Jasper, with the exception of the July 4 and Marble Festival activities and is a project of the Pickens County Master Gardeners.
