Last night, the PHS Soccer team held it’s end of the year banquet to celebrate what was a historic season in many ways. After everyone filed in, they were encouraged to get food provided by Moe’s. After eating, the ceremony was able to begin. The sponsors and volunteers were recognized for their contributions to a wonderful season.
The three senior girls, Victoria Haughwout, Sara Sadler, and Kristen Skarsbo received game balls and framed pictures signed by the rest of the team. The JV girls got their letters and were recognized then the Varsity girls were called up and received their letters and awards.
The JV boys were up next as they would come up and receive their letters and then the Varsity boys came up to do the same. The Varsity boys were recognized for winning six matches in a season for the first time in a while, winning their own North Ga Classic for the third straight year, and for making it to the State Tournament for the first time in school history. Corbin Johnson was honored for scoring ten goals in a season and named Offensive Player Of The Year, while Adam Leicht was honored for picking up two clean sheets in a single season during region play.
After the Varsity boys were recognized, the coaches themselves would be put in the spotlight. Coaches, Hobgood, Jent, Flynn, and Nix were all given plaques and honored for their hard work in building the Soccer program at PHS.
