Mrs. Rebecca Janice Hightower, age 67, of the Jerusalem Community passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Janice was born July 30, 1947 to Jerry and Jessie Holcombe, Jr. in Marietta. She married Abe Hightower and worked at Canton Wholesale.

She is survived by her husband, Abe Hightower; daughters and sons-in-law, Leigh and Terry Shinafelt of Jasper, Jill and David Jones of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kelly Spence of Talking Rock; step-daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Jeremy Henderson of Jasper; sisters, Beverly and Thomas Roper of Jasper, Charlene and John Creekmur of Woodstock; special adopted children, Raymond and Teresa Cloud; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Several other nieces, nephews, and relatives also survive.

Janice was preceded in death by step-daughter, Debbie House; mother, Jessie Holcombe; and brother Jerry Holcombe, III.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Elliott, Reverend Richard Cambell, and Reverend Buck Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
