Religion

Proverbs 11:2-4 “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.”O God, before whom all secrets will be revealed, we bow in humility before you. We know that we are dependent on you for the very breath we breathe. You caused the first beat of our hearts and you saw us before our mothers held us. You know when our hearts will beat for the final time.

How, then, can mortal man shake his fist in your face and say, “I do not need you. I do not want you to have any control over my life. I do not believe in you, the Bible, the church, or any of this religious stuff!” And he goes on to spin the web in which he will be caught.

We love the old hymn, “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!” This is the way that we shall prevail in the day of judgment for there is none other name through whom we can be saved. Thank you, Lord, for saving us from ourselves, our sin, and for life abundant and eternal.

Amen.
