PHS Basketball wraps up 2025

The Pickens Dragons and Dragonettes, were on the road to close out the remaining part of the 2025 schedule. On Friday December 19th, the Dragons, traveled over to Adairsville to take on the Sequoyah out of the 5A classification. The Chiefs, were able to come away with a 58-51 win in that one. On that same day, the Nettes, would head over to Pope High School to take part in a two day event called the Hounds Holiday Hoops Classic.

 

In what was a back and forth low scoring affair, the Lady Grayhounds, out of the 5A classification, would pull out a 33-32 victory. On Saturday, December 20th, the Nettes, were back at Pope High School taking on the Walton Lady Raiders out of the 6A classification. Walton, would come away with a win in that one. Both the Dragons and Nettes, would then make their way to Jackson County on Saturday, December 27th for the first of three games.

 

The Nettes, would end their mini two game skid with an opening round win over Clarke Central, 62-40. The Dragons, would fall in a tough one to Monroe Area, 69-60. On Monday, December 29th, the Nettes and Dragons would both be playing Kell High School. Both would fall to the Lady Longhorns and Longhorns on that day. To close out the tournament, both the Nettes and Dragons would take on Denmark on Tuesday, December 30th.

 

Both the Nettes and Dragons, would end 2025 with big victories as the Nettes would defeat the Lady Danes, 60-28. The Nettes, would hit 14 three pointers in the win. The Dragons, would pick up a much needed 81-62 win over the Danes. Senior McCord Purdy, would eclipse the 1,000 career point mark in the win. The Nettes, will head into 2026 with a 7-5 record. The Dragons, will go into the new year at 5-7.

 

The Nettes and Dragons, will stay on the road to begin 2026 as they get back into region play as they head to Gainesville to take on North Hall on Tuesday, January 6th. The Nettes, will take on the Lady Trojans at 6 pm. The Dragons, will then battle the Trojans at 7:30 pm.
