Big Canoe hosted a tennis charity tournament this morning in hopes of raising money for cystic fibrosis research, an idea formulated by the family of Kyle Watters, a tenth grader at Pickens High School that suffers from the disease. The tournament was a smashing success, as over twenty-five juniors participated in the event.All together the juniors raised $1,200, which appears to be just the start for Watters and his mother Sue, a middle school teacher that helped organize and run the event, as Big Canoe is also having an adult tennis portion of the fundraiser tomorrow morning, which will include a silent auction with several donated items. With support coming from so many sources, it looks as if the Big Canoe community has truly aced their attempt to make a difference for cystic fibrosis sufferers.
