Mr. James Joyner “Jimmy” Swain, age 69 of Big Canoe passed away at his residence on Thursday, April 11, 2013.

Born February 29, 1944 in Plymouth, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Edward Joyner and Naomi Swain Joyner. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Emma McNair Swain and James Ellis Swain and his favorite aunt and uncle, Charlotte McNair Shytle and Johnny Shytle. Mr. Swain had last worked as Region Security Manager with the Weyerhaeuser Company. He was a member of the Jasper Lions Club and the First Baptist Church of Jasper.

He leaves to cherish his memory, HIS WIFE OF 29 YEARS, Frances E. Swain of Big Canoe; DAUGHTERS & SONS-IN-LAW, Lynn S. and Jimmy Baker of Suwanee, Ga.; Susan and Robert Allen of Dawsonville, Ga.; SON, Michael Hassell of Big Canoe; GRANDCHILDREN, Christopher Allen, Megan Allen and Jordan Allen all of Dawsonville, Ga.; COUSIN & SPOUSE, Naomi Shytle Roberson (Wiley) of Williamston, N.C.; SISTER-IN-LAW & SPOUSE, Priscilla Jernigan (Joe) of Graceville, Fla.; Other Relatives also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Jasper, with the remains placed in state at the church at 2:00 p.m., Dr. Jimmy Lewis, Rev. Rob Bruce and Mr. Joe Jernigan will officiate with the interment to follow in Lake Forest Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

The family ask that member of the Jasper Lions Club serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
